Once a week, in CEIP Antonio Machado, we use one of maths session to work on workshops. Depending on the course and the topic we want to cultivate, we change the proposal activity.

The workshop explained below was worked with sixth course of primary education.

1. Aims.

​

1. To work with geometry.

2. To learn more about geometric bodies.

3. To know which plane figures compound a geometric body.

4. To create simple geometric bodies.

2. Material need.

​

1. Model geometric bodies.

2. Plane figures.

3. Paper and pencil.

​

3. Game.​

​

The main aim is "becoming aware of how a geometric body is compounded".

​

4. Steps to follow.

​​

• Step 1. Pupils will work in pairs.

​​

• Step 2. Pupils will have some models they have to reproduce using the pieces given.

​​

• Step 3. Each geometric body created will be clasified taking into account the plane figures that compound the geometric body, number od sides, parts of the geometric body and the rest of the characteristics. 

​

• Step 4. To draw in a paper the development of the geometric body in plane.

​

• Optional step. Create their own figures and solve all the steps.

​
